We spent the last two days fishing the Clarion Buffer Zone for not much success. Although we could see at times what I would call very good sign of tuna, they were mostly in the 40 pound class. Not what we are looking for on a 16 day trip. We are now headed out to our next destination in search of cows or some wahoo. The weather is good for us. JUSTIN |

With two nice tuna on the boat before 7 am, we had our fingers crossed that today the bite would turn for us. Marlin were a complete nuisance early but left us alone all afternoon. Well that bite did develop, fly lined mackerel and double trouble sardines under the kite produced steady action all day long. The Shogun has two yellowfin over 200# and many more ranging from 90-160#. The weather is just about perfect, warn sunny skies with a light breeze all day long. There are many great pictures, we just cant fit them all. We have a few more days down here at the Finger Bank, so there is plenty of opportunity to turn this Seeker 12 day trip into another great one. Come join us December 10 or January 8 as we try for more big tuna on our next two 13 day trips! Fishing For a Living The Shogun crew, Patrick Oleata reporting ![]() ![]()

Well, that does it for cow town for us. We are now on our way up the line to see if we can find some of that school size Tuna. Some of the guys haven't had the opportunity to pull on anything other than a Marlin so we'll try to do something about that. How do I put it? Today was rough. It started promising with some breaks around the boat in the gray morning then conditions went south quick. We got invaded by Marlin. It was almost impossible to get a bait out on the flyline, much less on the kite. After being amused for a little while everybody started getting frustrated. It was time for a move. Yesterday our little jaunt around the bank paid off but today something was different. The life that we observed yesterday just wasn't there today. We spent a while looking around then got back to our spot. Luckily the Marlin lost us somewhere and never relocated us. We finished the day with a few beautiful fish around the 130-140 mark. This group of guys is absolutely great. We have had slow periods at times and there hasn't been so much as a grumble. Everybody just keeps laughing and joking. They are really a joy to fish with. Hopefully tomorrow we can put them on something they can really yank and crank on. We will let you know. "The Intrepid Team" |

On that note, tomorrow will be the true test as we will be accompanied by several more of the guys who are eager to join the effort and expand this newly developing zone. Needless to say we will be here as well. Perfect working weather and an ideal twenty four hour forecast promises another fine day to focus the effort offshore tomorrow. With the signs we saw today we are fired up to get back at it and look forward to what we hope will be more good reports from all of us searching in this zone. After a few fruitless looking missions on the outside this season, we are mighty pleased and grateful that we were the chosen ones this time. With a seamless game plan up to this point, we will see if our good fortune continues. Tim |

Hey anglers, We arrived at Alijos Rocks at around 11a.m. We made a tour and saw a few fish on the fishfinders. We have about 20 yellowfin tuna so far and we are hoping for more. The weather is outstanding with overcast skies and calm seas. More later, Capt Art |

San Diego, California -- Scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego returning from research expeditions in Mexico have captured unprecedented details of vibrant sea life and ecosystems in the Gulf of California, including documentations of new species and marine animals previously never seen alive. Yet the expeditions, which included surveys at unexplored depths, have revealed disturbing declines in sea-life populations and evidence that human impacts have stretched down deeply in the gulf.Read More |
